Road Building & Infrastructure Development
The asphalt-paving and concreting of the city’s road network covers 99% of all the city roads. This includes the construction and upgrading of the city’s major and secondary roads.
The Aguilar administration, through the City Engineering Department, has continuously worked on massive social infrastructure development through the construction of schoolbuildings, health centers, daycare centers, barangay halls, recreational facilities, modern tricycle terminals, modern overpasses with escalators and others.
Education
Establishment of the Dr. Felimon C. Aguilar Memorial College which provides free sollege education for poor but deserving students of the city. Construction of additional modern school buildings in public elementary and high schools. Provision of modern arm chairs in public schools. Construction of audio-visual and multi-purpose building. Construction of school buildings in every barangay. Renovation of old school buildings. Procurement of three Mitsubishi ROSA coasters for the activities of students and teachers.
Health
Construction of 28 modern health centers in all barangays. Regular free medical and laboratory check-up/consultation and medication. Construction of modern free maternity centers. Medical and dental services have remarkably improved through the increased number of young, efficient and hardworking doctors and health volunteers in all the health centers. Free hospitalization benefit to all city residents.
Affordable quality health services have always been an important concern of Mayor Nene Aguilar because she believes that a healthy and robust citizenry is the foundation of better governance.
Clean and Green
Procurement of 70 compactor trucks for efficient and regular collection of garbage. Mobilization of 700 Kaagapay sa Kalinisan volunteers to keep the city clean. Planting of trees and landscaping of open spaces. Desilting and cleaning up of drainage, canals and waterways. Establishment of Plant Nursery and Orchidarium.
Las Piñas has come a long way from being a backwater municipality into a Cleanest and Greenest City awardee for Metro Manila for three consecutive eyars (1997-1999) and United Nations Awardee on Environmental Program. More info about the Clean and Green program »
Urban Poor Renewal and Development
Continuous land and on-site development through the construction and improvement of roads, drainage systems and water supply.
Provision of electricity through the Depressed Area Electrification Program (DAEP) for the underprivileged.
Land title distribution and provision of resettlement sites to displaced and homeless residents.
On-site livelihood development and training to depressed communities.
Personnel and Public Services Development
Construction and renovation of old City Hall into a modern and well-equipped public office. Establishment of Business One-Stop Shop or BOSS Center. Computerization of all business transactions. Automation of the business permit and license tax system and operations of all departments and offices. Serving compliementary coffee, juice and mineral water to taxpayers.
Mayor Nene Aguilar also pursues a values reorientation program for City Hall employees to develop their capabilities and inculcate values related to teamwork, productivity, concern and commitment, honesty, cleanliness and orderliness and particularly service to the people.
Educare
Establishment of more than 65 modern education centers (Day Care Centers) in all barangays.
Provision of free school uniforms and school supplies. Free milk and nutritional food feeding to nursery students.
The Educare Program, with assistance from the Nene Aguilar Foundation, is designed to provide a better headstart for underprivileged children of the city and provide them with better health care as well as eliminate malnutrition. More than 2,000 children in the city benefit from the program every year.
Manpower Training Development & Employment
Establishment of manpower training and livelihood centers and its satellites in the barangays.
Strengthening of Public Employment Services Office (PESO) for employment referrals and job fairs. Development of skills courses for out-of-school youths.
To ensure that Las Piñas residents are provided with employable skills, manpower training programs have been undertaken since 1995. Every year, more than 2,000 members graduate from several courses offered by the Center like elctronics, dressmaking, tailoring, stuffed toy making, driving, radio/TV repair, computer education and other entrepreneurial skills.
Tourism & Cultural
In an effort to prime Las Pinas as a tourism and cultural site to attract foreign and local investors, the Las Piñas Historical Corridor Project was created. It aims for the restoration and preservation of old historical and cultural landmarks of the city initiated by Senator and Congresswoman Cynthia Villar and Mayor Nene Aguilar. The project involves the physical restoration and transformation highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage.
