Comelec proclaimed Aguilar as newly elected mayor of Las Piñas

LAS PIÑAS, M.M. – The Commission on Elections today proclaimed Vergel “Nene” Aguilar as the new elected mayor of Las Piñas City after garnering 159,708 votes or 99 percent of the total votes casts during the recently concluded mid-term elections.
Aguilar described the recent elections as unprecedented in the city’s history citing that he got 99 percent of the trust and confidence of the voters as reflected by the votes casts.
Aguilar who ran unopposed along with his vice mayor and councilors and Congresswoman Cynthia Villar won by a landslide. He will assume office after the term of Mayor Imelda Aguilar expires this coming June 30.
Engr. Henry Medina, his runningmate for vice-mayor also won and all the 12 councilors from Districts 1-2 namely: Oca Peña, Dennis Aguilar, Eddie Lezarda, Steve Miranda, Metring Cristobal, Rex Riguera, Louie Bustamante, Ruben Ramos, Rene Dumlao, Dong Benedicto, Danny Hernandez and Pip Camila
Aguilar attributed his overwhelming victory from his continuous pro-people and pro-development programs for the people of Las Piñas despite the meager resources the city government generated when he served as Mayor in 1995 until 2004 and supports the various social services projects of Mayor Imelda Aguilar like free hospitalization to all residents, free daycare to college education, new modern school buildings and classrooms, free burial assistance, free medicines in more than 50 health and dental centers among others were implemented benefiting the residents.
He said election in the city was peaceful and orderly and commended the police force and the residents themselves.
Aguilar vowed to pursue his development plans for the city in the next three years of his administration.
