LAS PIÑAS, M.M. – Re-electionist Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar wins a landslide victory over his opponents and commended the people of Las Piñas, the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials, and the Philippine National Police for the conduct Monday of clean and orderly elections in the city.
Aguilar, who won over three other mayoral aspirants, also thanked the voters for giving him a fresh mandate as he reiterated his assurance for the continued delivery of more improved and quality basic services and transparent governance in the next three years of his term.
Mayor Aguilar, along with his running mate Vice Mayor Henry Medina, councilors (District I) Oca Peña, Dennis Aguilar, Eddie Lezarda, Steve Miranda, Metring Cristobal, Rex Riguera, (District II) Louie Bustamante, Ruben Ramos, Rene Dumlao, Dong Benedicto, Danny Hernandez, and Pip Camila, got a landslide victory over those who tried to run for the seat in the city council.
Aguilar said his continued mandate from the voters, (giving him some 99 percent of votes), all the more inspired him to implement projects and programs that would improve the lot of Las Piñeros.
“With heartfelt gratitude to my fellow Las Piñeros for their continued trust, I am more committed to give them unhampered improved and quality services they deserve,” Aguilar said.
Las Piñas has a total of 330,426 registered voters in all of the 20 barangays, with Barangay BF Int’l/CAA registering the highest number of voters.
City police chief P/Superintendent Josephus Angan yesterday said the conduct of elections in the entire city of Las Piñas was generally peaceful and orderly, except for the usual.
He added that despite the meager income of the Las Pinas, the city administration managed to provide and strengthen the necessary services like free hospitalization, free day-care and up to college education with school buildings, infrastructure, and livelihood.
Aguilar also pledged to pursue the development of depressed areas in the city into a first class community with the necessary amenities through the Community Mortgage Program.
